I'd throw in The Beyond Belief Conference, which is held just about 90 miles down the 5 Freeway from me, in La Jolla, CA. If you haven't watched all 15 hours of it, you will probably enjoy it as much as I did (last years).
This years conference is coming up in the fall and I'd love to go even to one session. The thing that kills me is that from just about every session I could see EMPTY SEATS! Give me one! Ah, to be there on a day when maybe Dawkins, E.O. Wilson, Steven Pinker, Dan Dennett and VS Ramachandran are speaking...
I've been to a Dawkins lecture before but none of the others.
Thanks for posting Sean Carroll. I have two of his books (The Making of the Fittest and Endless Forms Most Beautiful) on my "To Read" list.

OOPS...
This is Sean "M" Carroll - theoretical physicist
I'm talking about Sean "B" Carroll - evolutionary biologist.
But thanks anyway, it's fascinating.

You know, I thought it was going to be Sean "B" Carroll too when I first saw the reference to this post. I have The Making of the Fittest on my wish list. :)
I was surprised there was another Carroll. I had to look to see if I had the name spelled right. I'll update it to "M" to avoid confusion.

Oh, let them find out for themselves. It's a NICE TRICK. "M" gave a very interesting speech and that little summing up at the end of the two ways of figuring things out was very strong.
I like the tawks! UM HM.
