Reading List for December
Friday, January 02, 2009
December wasn't very productive for me. I am almost finished with Misquoting Jesus, which I found to be pretty interesting. It certainly conflicts with all of the misinformation I was fed when I was younger. This may be a book I "leave" at my parent's house one day.
I'm looking forward to starting on a couple of the books I received for Christmas, but I may need all of January for The Universe.
Read in December
The Wave in the Mind - Ursula K LeGuin
Currently Reading
The Universe - Byron Preiss (Editor)
Misquoting Jesus - Bart D. Ehrman
Coming Up Next
The Handmaid's Tale - Margaret Atwood

Will you also be reading The Postman with the Nonbelieving Literati?

I'm waiting and prepared for the nuclear apocalypse as well.
OG's brother-in-law has an ample supply of bottle caps too, so after the nuclear winter, we can trade for iguana bits and parts for our hunting rifles.
War. War never changes.

I saw the movie "The Handmaid's Tale". It was OK, and I suspect the book could be excellent.
Speaking of needing a month to read a book, I'm debating giving "Infinite Jest" by Wallace a crack. Been a long while since I read a thousand page novel.

Chappy: I read The Postman about two years ago and enjoyed it. I might write a post about it, but I didn't re-read it.
Venjanz: Apocalypse?
Evo: Did you ever read Storm World?

I wish I could have checked out Misqoting Jesus while I was in the States... Sounds fascinating and like the sort of bookthat I too would like to share with my family.

Evo: If that means what I think it means, then great! I haven't read it though, you know, so I can't really bug you about it too much. You'll never ask me to pick a book for you again though, will you?
Mamacita: I think it's very religion positive, while at the same time pointing out how manuscripts evolved. It's definitely a good book for someone wanting to know about religious history as long as that person is okay with some challenges to his or her faith.
