Photography: The Dogs
Tuesday, March 24, 2009
Here are a few more pictures of the dogs from February. I was just starting to use manual mode for pictures and the results were mixed. It's difficult indoors without a tripod and without a flash. I used a monopod for some shots.
And, a nice sunset to end the day.

I really love the belly scratch photo's focus. It makes the picture unique. My only commentary would be that the background is a little distracting...but I completely understand how hard it is to photograph dogs. You just don't have much control on how or where to pose them. :)

Yeah, I was trying to catch her licking my sister-in-law's arm. I liked the way the picture turned out though, even with the background. I think the colors came out gorgeous, but it is a little haphazard.

I love the colors in these photos. Are you shooting RAW and doing the color processing yourself? If so, you're getting the hang of it very nicely.

I have a dog that looks very similar to the brown dog in the first and second picture. They sure can be tough to photograph in anything less than perfect lighting.

Chappy: Yes, I'm shooting in RAW and then doing photo processing in the RAW importer in Photoshop. I also used Picnik for some of my processing online.
Vjack: She's tough to capture because she's so full of energy. I usually get her when she's tired on the bed. The other dog is so dark, it's tough to get her in a properly exposed photograph.
