Could extraterrestrial life be made of corkscrew-shaped particles of interstellar dust? Intriguing new evidence of life-like structures that form from inorganic substances in space have been revealed in the New Journal of Physics. The findings hint at the possibility that life beyond earth may not necessarily use carbon-based molecules as its building blocks. They also point to a possible new explanation for the origin of life on earth.

I find space fascinating...though I have never written a post on it. I used to read a lot of SF when I was growing up but now I guess I read other stuff. also less time to read that I had before...
but I try to catch every news item on this subject, but I had missed this. When I was younger, why just about 10 years ago I used to keep clippings on eveyrthign to do with science and space and I have that file still.
I plan to write an SF novel one day...but right now I haven't even finished my first one...!
