flat tire

:(

It's all fixed now. It's a good thing I ran over that thing in the parking lot (or near enough) and that the tire didn't go flat until after I was parked. I changed it mostly myself. Two guys stopped to help, but I already had the lug nuts loosened and the jack mostly up. It was nice though because my back was really hurting by that point.

The funny thing is the guy kept telling me that he wasn't helping because he thought I couldn't do it. Is that really what it's come to? You can't help a stranger because you're too afraid she'll take offense? He refused to let me buy him coffee afterwards too.

Heh. I don't know what the world is coming to. Unfortunately, it's not helped by the girls who will yell at guys if they hold doors open for them.

I hold doors or do the "pass the door over" thing. That's just plain old courtesy.

If I were a guy and some girl tried to lecture me about holding a door, I'd let it slam in her face just to prove the difference between being courteous and being rude.

The good samaritan law says that you can't accept anything for your services, even a cup of coffee. If he changed your tire and then you got into an accident, you could sue him if he accepted that cup of coffee.

And that, exactly, is what the world is coming to.

    *knock* *knock*...

    Land shark.

Holy crap! It looks like you ran over a chef who was holding a very sharp knife!

What if the man who helped you change your tire refused to accept the coffee as a thank-you because he, in fact, had planted the razor-sharp blade that slashed your tire--like a pyromaniac volunteer fireman setting a building ablaze and then helping to put it out!? And what if he was trying to cross the street with his cup of free coffee and not paying attention because he was trying not to spill the coffee and then he got hit by a bus!? OMG! I just this second got an email from Caribou Coffee that says "Enjoy a cup of coffee on us!". AND I have a cup of coffee on my desk! AND I can't stop typing because I'm so buzzed on coffee! It's a sign!

I'm pretty sure the Good Samartan law in Kansas only applies to situations where you are giving first-aid, charitable donations and volunteer work.
