rambling because I'm bored

Why is it that requesting my credit score from one of those online companies always feels sleazy? And it never works and I'm forced to call in and ask for a refund? Why is it so difficult? Why can't I request a report be mailed to me?

And why can't Mondays be easy days? I want Monday Movies! And why do I feel like I'm regressing to the thoughts of a two year old?

    Free credit report by mail:
Go apply for some type of credit that you have no chance of getting. When you get your denial letter, mail that to one of the reporting agencies with a request to see your report. They have to send it to you by law according to the FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act), in theory.

That's true and I've followed up on my refusals before, but I don't want to lower my credit score by applying for a card I don't need or want. There's probably a way to order a report by mail. I just have to find it.

Did you order a credit report and credit score through www.anualcreditreport.com? It's the website set up by the three reporting agencies to facilitate obtaining your free credit report. According to their FAQ, you can purchase a credit score when you order your free credit report. Or have you been through all this already?

Ah, but I want to know my FICO score, and you can't get your FICO score for free, only a copy of your credit report. I was trying myfico.com, which is owned by Fair Isaac, but I still had difficulty getting my report. Something about my browser settings or incompatibilities. I've never had as much of an issue with that as with credit reporting agencies online.

I assume that's what freecreditreport.com means when they say you can purchase a credit score. I see myFICO.com advertises a "free" score.... Hmm... It looks like they really want you to "purchase" their software first and then they bill you $89 after 30 days if you don't cancel your subscription. They have a FICO Standard purchase option for a one-time credit report from the 3 agencies plus your FICO score for $15.95. Is this what you bought?

The compatability/settings problem with your browser is undoubtably caused by your failure to embrace Windows XP Service Pack 2! Confess your sin! CONFESS! Don't make me use the soft cusions!

Yes, I was trying the $15.95 service for one of the agencies. And I did it from my work computer which does have SP2. Obviously they were punishing me for using work time/resources for personal gain. I'm so ashamed!

I was thinking about ordering one of those too but something seemed shady about it. I guess it was!
